Well I became a statistic this summer. Eating out too much has made me gain back some weight. The husband has spoiled me way too much and we've been eating out too much. I have done some things well this summer though. I have reconnected with cousins and other family members, spent time with friends, and made some trips that were enjoyable and relaxing. I have taken the time to smell the roses and see the sunrises. Now if I can just cut back on the sweets during all this happiness! :D

4th of July #32
Well today was 32 years since our first date! It was a great 4th of July minus the trip to the beer garden (I'll explain). Started off the morning with one of my favorite breakfasts-- biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns. We were rookies about some things this year that we'll definitely remember for next year. The parade runs right by our subdivision so we were pretty excited about just walking a block to the main road with our strollers and lawn chairs, but little did we know that EVERYONE does that so you have to select your spot early or you stand on the "rookie" side of the road in the hot sun. The parade didn't start till noon. It was hot, but it was still a good parade. Very small town with lots of candy and horses and loud fire trucks. All the things we like. :D Well Maddi, Kayson, and Jilly were not quite so fond of the loud sirens or backfiring muscle cars, but the rest they liked.
Next year we're getting our chairs down there on the shade side early! Then we came home and cooled off with some fruit and water. After we were cooled off, I fixed lunch and we ate and played some cards. By then we were sufficiently cooled down and it was late afternoon so we thought we'd go check out the vendor booths downtown. It's our first year here so we're just learning when things happen and where they are. The fireman's breakfast was in the morning and we saw booths set up and a car show, etc. Well apparently everything ends about 3:00 and we headed down about 3:30-- everything except the 5 vendors around the local bar that is. We came in from the back side street and luckily I said, "I'll go check it out," before we unloaded everyone. I came in the back side of the booths and 10 second later I was standing next to the keg and a dunk tank of highly intoxicated individuals. I was next to the bar. Alrighty..... I high-tailed it back to the kids (we were all packed into 3 vehicles) and signaled to turn around. Definitely not a kid affair. We saw them packing up the jumping gyms and everything as we made our way back to main street. Rookies! We'd missed all the kids stuff!
So we decided to go get some more fireworks. Three fireworks stands later (counting the one I didn't get out at).... we had picked up all "safe" fireworks that we could light off in the back yard. Mandy also wanted the "snakes" and they were a big hit with the boys. Then they had the backyard "dunking" contest with Jason winning of course. Kind of like papa winning the watergun fight. Then Jeremy tells them to play dodge ball. Good one. No injuries there! Killin' me Jer. Jeremy won that one. Then Jason talks them into a soccer game. Pretty sure his team won. :D The kids loved all the games and I'm pretty sure they will sleep in in the morning.
Then we did our fireworks. Then a million neighbors did their fireworks and one of them did such an awesome job that for about 1/2 hour we debated if it was the city display or not. Turns out the city fireworks are the field next to our subdivision so we also got to watch that from the comfort of our backyard which was awesome. And we had no doubt when the real ones did start. They were awesome and lasted a long time. We had never seen the "fire clouds" before. Apparently they had two major blowups. But no one got hurt, the show went on and the black clouds they produced were actually quite dramatic. An added effect. :D After the city show all the neighbors surrounding us just kept shooting off pretty impressive displays. The weather was awesome as well. One of the warmest 4th's we've had in a long time.
It was so great to spend this day with our children and Jackie and cut-out Bob. We missed you later Jackie. Our thoughts are with you tomorrow. We love ya. Our thoughts are with Bobby too and all our soldiers in Iraq and serving in other places throughout the world. I hope they had a safe and memorable Fourth as well. And sweetie... I love you more every year.
I'll post pics in the morning. I got some really, really good ones.
